If you want an athletic comparison to WBC heavyweight champion Samuel Peter, look no further than NFL legend and Dancing With The Stars competitor Warren Sapp. Both are around the same height (in the 6-0, 6-1 range) with girth and very light feet for men their size. (Check out Warren Sapp showing off some of his dance moves to his fellow Inside the NFL hosts here).
The keyword here is "light feet". Sam Peter is a much better technical fighter than people give him credit for. He moves well and jabs well. When you combine that with knockout power and an aggressive style, you get a heavyweight champion and a fighter that gives the fans what they want.
I'm not saying Vitali Klitschko wasn't a great boxer. In his prime, Klitschko could box and punch with the best of them, using his impossible height and reach to his advantage. Peter may have struggled with tall fighters, having been schooled by Vitali's brother Wladimir and given fits by Jameel McCline, but the bottomline is that Peter knocked down Wladimir three times and came back in the rounds after getting knocked down to beat McCline. And seeing Peter continually improve his boxing, I'm not doubtful that Peter will be much better prepared to handle the taller Vitali.
Expect a prime Samuel Peter to come out fast, whack and maul Vitali Klitschko, and finish him in the later rounds.
More Peter vs. Klitschko!
Baaad Knockouts
Beatdowns! Hype
